- Party for incoming/outgoing staff tomorrow at Cross Klub in Holesovice (Plenarninska 24 from 9 pm)
- article about us and Prague cycling in the Prague Post last week; should be linked from our press page
- We can now order recycled paper from Concord Paper in Vrsovice at wholesale rates
- Kwame visit - Some guy name Kwame who responded to our Carfree Green Pages e-mail is interested in visiting us. Steve should look out for further e-mails from him.
- Arie says there are EC funds for Mediterranean projects, so if you have ideas in that regard, now you know.
AGENDA:
- Lutra proposes that we buy 10 copies of the video "*Source" at 15 EUR each and sell them at 25 EUR each. Steven will put announcements in bulletin and magazine. Gandalf will contact him, with contact info from Steven.
- Car Busters Reader - articles chosen should have relevance for years to come. Various people in office will review magazine back issues to select their favourite articles. There will be a Wiki page where people can post the name of the article and issue number for each that they like.
- Stickers language call - We decided against the large number-plate Japanese-only sticker, but suggest that the creator have it printed in Japan, perhaps via an NGO there. But we want a Japanese sticker in bike sticker format. Kamila can check translation with other Japanese people. If anyone suggests other languages, hand them over to Gandalf.
- Office hours - Review of 3-5 pm policy. No change. We will buy four office chairs at Libensky Ostrov. Kamila will coordinate. We'll update each person's office hours. Everyone should work on their job descriptions on-line.
- Compost - Decision: Whoever cooks takes out the compost. Needs to be taken out every day.
- Strategic Planning and BIG EC Environment grant -
Arie has learned about opportunity to get bigger general support grant (DG Environment) for core operating support. We would either need two years of audited accounts AS INT'L NETWORK (which would take a few years until we could apply) OR found a "new" network and have three founding members, each with two years of audits. We could apply next year and be one of the three founding members with two years of audited accounts. We agree to that latter course. It costs 50,000 to 60,000 CZK to do an audit. Randy will contact Friends of the Earth (which is in the US and Europe and internationally, to find out how they deal with the structure and bureaucratic requirements. Randy will also raise the general issue with the Steering Committee.
As a side issue, we've been looking at "trademarking" World Carfree Network so that it's officially registered internationally. Kamila is working on this.
Strategic plan - We need one for major grants like these. Randy will ask Mari for T&E's strategic plan, and himself get FOE's and Taiga Rescue Network's. Steve will get CEE Bankwatch's. We have found on-line resources. Arie will write up a template for a strategic plan and we will start on it, then give to Steering Committee to comment/work on. There are two main parts: operational and financial.
- Semi-annual meeting - We'll have our full-day semi-annual meeting on November 9 from 9 am to 6 pm at Randy's flat (Bulharska 32, Vrsovice) and we'll work on it there.
- Tax Advisor - Kamila and Radka will set up meeting with tax advisor and accountant together, and Randy, Steve, Steven and possibly Roeland should be present. Any afternoon except for Tuesday or Wednesday is good.
- Office cell phone - Tanja will be leaving an Oskar cell phone, which will be available for office use. We'll have to check if possible to change billing name to WCN, otherwise we need new account.
- Car Busters subscription rates - Lutra proposed raising the US rate to $4.50 for individual copies and $18 for subscriptions. We want to ask some people in the US before deciding.
- Magazine - All text is due. Time to start printing out your pages. Randy to do conference wrap-up. No Industry Watch this time.
