Attending: Joao, Roeland, Christi, Randy, Steven, Anna, Kamila, Arie
Announcements
- We got money from Tides and Kelly: We received $2,000 from the Tides Foundation and 800 Euros from Esmond Kelly.
- Christi will take part of Friday 8.12 off but she will still work 40 hours that week.
- Randy is in the UK from Dec. 20 to Jan. 7. He will be working part of the time but he needs to figure out how much time will be vacation.
Agenda Items
- Pay Pal: We set up a Pal Pal account for AA in the UK because it used to be that you couldn't receive money in the Czech Republic. But now the rules are changed and you can receive it, so we need to replace the UK account with a Czech account under the name World Carfree Network Europe o.s.
- Global Network v. WCN Europe and WCN USA: We have to say that WCN Europe and WCN USA are "affiliates" of the WCN Global Network. We can't say that the global network controls or has these organizations. This is for legal reasons. We have to emphasize that WCN USA and WCN Europe are independent organizations.
- Bulletins: Randy proposes that we have a rule that if someone wants to start a new language version of the bulletin, they have to get 100 email addresses signed up before the translations begin. Kamila says it isn't our energy and if someone wants to translate for only 20 people that's not our problem. Steven agrees to do some outreach to Giovanni's group in Italy to get more people on the Italian version. Anna will e-mail organizations in Spanish-speaking countries, and Randy has emails from participants in Bogota.
- Work Schedule: A few weeks ago we decided that we should have someone in the office 9 to 5 every day. It doesn't always have to be the same person, so we need to schedule who will be here when and put it on the board in the office.
o Also all fulltime people should be here at least by 12:00 every day and half-time people need to write down their hours, which should be here at least 3 to 5 on the days they work.
- Deadline for Biketour grant wasn't Nov. 1 because of the EC budgeting problems. We could reapply on Feb. 1. That is a problem because if the money comes for the Biketour, it won't come until the last minute. That is a big problem because participants have to get money to pay for visas and travel tickets significantly in advance. Roeland needs to finalized the final report by next week, so we will know if the Biketour account has any money for the most critical costs. Christi will look into quick grants that might be available in that amount of time. Next meeting we can discuss the Biketour final report and we should also discuss Roeland's salary.
- DG Environment grant deadline is coming on Jan. 20. Partnerstvi has told us that they have just now finally got some money from 2005, which means that the money is not very reliably on time. However, other organizations have had experience with getting it more on time. The Call for Proposals will be out in a few days.
- New e-mailing lists: We have a lot of email addresses from the resource center and conference and they need to be entered into an e-mailing list. That could be a job for someone. Joao volunteers to do that. These are only out-going e-mail lists and not discussion lists.
- An American woman is coming in as a short-term volunteer on Friday. If we could come up with some tasks that would be good.
- EVS: Christi says Anna has said she isn't always busy and Anna did some really good research for her last week. As a result, the DG Environment application has some really good statistics. But Anna says it was only a temporary problem and now she has plenty to do.
- Roeland requested group agreement for him to work at home tomorrow because he needs to concentrate really intensely on the Biketour final report. We agreed for this day. We will discuss Roeland working at home more some other time, after he gets internet access at home.
