Agenda
1. Resource Centre
2. Carbusters 31 and Justin
3. NESsT
4. Cycle & Recycle Calendar
5. Energy Globe

1. Resource Centre

  • There is a good book from Ecocities. It cost $24/book, but we would get a 20% discount; however, shipping costs are high. Randy says we usually get 40% off books. There is another distributor selling it for 830 Kc with 30% off the price.

DECISION: If we don't get a minimum discount of 35% from the cover price, we should not buy the books.

2. Carbusters 31 and Justin

  • Someone needs to do the member profile for issue 31. We need to divide the work for issue 31 better.
  • Justin needs to work together with people, to get training. Kamila says he should make a schedule for working with both Randy and Rob. We should make a schedule.

DECISION: We should all look at the Wiki division of tasks and offer help where possible.

DECISION: Justin will work primarily with Rob in June. He will spend sometime doing a hand-over with Randy on certain duties, but Randy will also be available after June for questions.

3. NESsT

  • Steven and Justin were at the workshop. We need to do an "Organisational Readiness" exercise. Christi is working on it and needs to input from others, Steven suggests that we devote time at next weeks meeting to exercises requiring input of others.

DECISION: We will make the meeting longer next week to accommodate this. Christi will send email by next Tues. telling people what to think about before the meeting.

4. Cycle & Recycle Calendar

  • Steven says that the quality of the calendar has declined recently. Kamila suggests that we might not sell many, because people only buy it during the few months at the end and few months at the beginning of the year. Steven suggests making the calendar a special offer associated with a Christmas membership drive. Is it worth paying the $150 for publishing, etc. (can you really make the money back?). Steven thinks that we can better spend the money in a better way. Randy says it also helps to get our name out. Steven says we could use the same amount to buy advertising to an audience that is less likely to know about us.

DECISION: We should not get the calendar but look at better ways to use the money, such as advertising for Carbusters.

5. Energy Globe Award

  • There are concerns about whether our projects stand a good chance of winning the prize. There are also some apparent ties between the award maker and the World Bank.

DECISION: It is not worth the time to apply.
